Process of Manufacturing

The process of manufacture of Detergents broadly involves neutralizing LABSA (Acid Slurry) with Alkali and maintain the PH at desired level by blending the same with different additives like optical brightening agent and other soluble and insoluble builders and perfume to enhance the cosmetic value.

For the manufacture of Detergent Powder two processes are adopted. These are wet process and dry process. Keeping an eye on cost effectiveness vis-a-vis quality of the products dry mixing process is widely in use for the manufacture of Popular and Economy Grade Detergent Powder. Process of manufacture of Detergent Powder by dry mixing process are broadly divided into three stages.

(i) Preparatory Stage

(ii) Processing Stage

(iii) Packing and Finishing Stage

These three stages can be manually done which is very primitive and do not give consistent quality outputs. By use of machines for different operations and material conveying systems there will be consistency in quality resulting in reduction in cost, increase in quantity of production with moderate profit generation.

Preparatory Stage:

This is the stage where the requisite raw materials are prepared for blending. Physically there are two types of raw materials i.e. dry raw materials in powder form and liquid raw materials. Different dry raw materials of required quantity are sieved in a vibratory screen so that any lump bigger than the desired particle size is discarded. These are however recharged to the screen after grinding.

The liquid raw materials of desired quantity are fed to a tank provided with a stirrer. These are stirred till a homogenous mix is formed.

Processing Stage:

This stage involved through blending of different materials. The powdered materials from vibratory screen are fed to a specially designed Mixer through a Bucket Elevator. The liquid mixture from the tank is also pumped to the Mixer.

These are mixed in batches. Time of blending is pre-determined in the Laboratory. The materials are converted into a free flowing uniform looking mass.

The Detergent Powder after being unloaded from the Mixer is transferred to a Silo and through screw feeder it is transferred to Cage Mill for homogeneous mixing and braking the lumps if any formed in the mixing stage. From Cage mill the powder is transferred through bucket Elevator to the final sieve before it is transferred to the packing section.

Packing and Finishing Stage:

The packing involve two operations such as (i) Pouch Packing and (ii) Outer Packing. Pouch Packing for retail sale whereas Outer Packing in H.D.P.E. Woven Sacks is done for wholesale marketing.

The Powder which passes through the Vibratory Screen travel through drag conveyor and distributed to the Silos of FFS machine through vibro sieve. The weigh metric Automatic Packing Machines are adjusted to pack various pack sizes depending on the trade requirement

The packs are then transferred for Bulk Packing in H.D.P.E Woven.Sacks through a Belt Conveyor and stacking is done at the ware house where the set norms for checking are done by Quality Assurance Department before the same is cleared for dispatch.
